great new downwards remix project from russell haswell. forerunner to a new 10 track lp ! haswells improvised modular synth recordings are given the radical remix treatment. fellow midlander, regis, delivers a beat driven techno noise mulch classic, then, the legendary whitehouse founding member, and more recently cut hands, william bennett, has spatialized the original mono source into a stereo head fucking, brain floss session. the entire b side of this ep is given over to chicagos experimental music master, kevin drumm, who expands the chosen track into a striking 8 minute noise/ambient conundrum

finally we can unleash the hi-tech soca bomb 2-4-6. with layers of exotic percussion morphing and weaving around a strict snapping rhythm, sounds abound in colourful patterns, carnival whistles strengthen the latin flavour whilst terrible shock directs the dance with his booming intonements. a festival of funky futurism. on the flip desto relocates the track to the ghetto. booming 808 sub-bass lines with plenty of punch drive the inventive on the one broken electro beat and the space opened up here leaves room for percussion to punctuate hard. check the cowbells and whistles (again). the whole track bounces as if on hydraulics!

the second ep from >shiki kyokai< a new label founded by dj shufflemaster (tatsuya kanamori, kanamori) for the first time on analog disc, this is a 2004 remix by dj shufllemaster as >housedust sound system< of an original, progressive house track with soulful vocals, by the mysterious artist raysbelonging to liquid recordings, a label run by liquid room, one of the most important clubs / music venues in japan. the original house beat is deconstructed into a psychedelic soundscape full of wah-wah and feedback guitars... this is the starting point of what links with the concept of the shiki kyokai label!

three previously unheard tunes elewhere... composed specially for acid night, after pzylos venue last year at the party... kaiken brings a big acidcore sound, loud and fat, 160 bpm. cyclic dica is the downtempo 134 bpm hard techno acid track. rare style and bloody effiicient & agressive, but still funky enough to groove you away! ... acid shock is more mental, 145 bpm hardcore beat (doom acid?). superb progression growing up to madness!

rhythm plates re-emergence through their pressed for time label continues apace on this second release, a split 12 inch that pairs a new cut from matlocks finest with solo productions from ant plate as yse and yse saint laurent. hissy warehouse beats, simple chord vamps and rapturous oh-vocals characterise yses dryish yet muscular 99% invisible, whilst plates yse saint laurent contribution when you love me pairs some r&b vocal sampling with drawn out synths and wispy percussion placed on top of a grooving bassline similar to bernard badies 09 mojuba hit move to the beat. rhythm plates submission, i think i ve dreamed this before adds a warming calmness to the ep, allowing a spirited synth line to traverse its arrangement like a geisha float-walking through an japanese garden of snowy arpeggios and moss covered basslines.

this ep on memento records sees alfonso leon take his production skills to the next level. vinyl compresors soulful melodies and tribal percussions are matched by a deliciously funky and luscious bass line, until acid synth stabs open the way to a low-pitched, creepy, almost manic dark vocal that crawls along the groove.
fabrizio maurizis unique taste resonates hugely in his remix: a computerised, robotic low frequency bounce underpins a loopy rework of the dreary vocal, bringing its more rhythmical and human elements to the fore, marrying them to the relentless beat. outstanding works, both tracks.

inter gritty returns home. sido offers techno in its purest form, stripped to the bone but with plenty of tension along the journey. stockholms lemieux works her magic on the remix, giving new life to the bare mathematics with warm pads and a jacking beat. vella lavella throws you head first in a black hole, with an intense hihat-fuelled beat and thick drones.

the flatlife deep debut of liverpool-based artist binny, including remixes by oliver lieb & tim gaal. the oliver lieb remix of release is a pounding tech-house track based on the two major themes of the original and treated with the typical oliver lieb signature sound - peak-time material! the original version is a soulful and uptempo broken-beat detroit techno track. the journey once again takes you back to the motor city: a lush sounding pad sound is accompanied by a shuffled and funky rhythm track. the tim gaal remix slows it down and incorporates a retroish deep house feel. flatlife deep is run by jack wax (flatlife records) in cooperation with tim gaal (adepth audio), focusing on warm-sounding analogue techno music.
